Nedra L. Rice, M.D., FACOG Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Rice is originally from Dallas  and is thrilled to give back to her hometown community. Prior to her medical education, she earned a B.A. and Master’s degree in Social Work and was a practicing Licensed Master’s Social Worker.  She attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, followed by residency at the Health Science Center’s affiliated facility, University Hospital.

Dr. Rice is passionate about women’s health issues and places great value on patient education.  She believes that health care delivery can be kind and compassionate, and she strives to provide an atmosphere for her patients that is understanding and comfortable.   

Dr. Rice enjoys traveling, snow skiing, and relaxing with a good book or movie. She and her husband Tom stay busy keeping up with their two daughters, Alex and Cate.

Shaheen Jacob, M.D.
Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Jacob is originally from Dallas and is very excited to practice in her hometown.  She received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin.  Dr. Jacob attended medical school at St. George's University, School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.  She continued her medical training throughout the New York City area. After receiving her medical degree, she completed residency at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. She is now happy to be back home in Texas giving back to her commuinty.

​Dr. Jacob is dedicated to women's health issues.  Her main focus is in developing long term relationships with her patients based on trust and understanding. She spends time listening to her patients and advocates preventive medicine and patient education. She is thrilled to bring high quality care and personal attention to her patients.

Dr. Jacob is recently married with one son and enjoys traveling, watching movies, good food, spending time with her husband, Suraj and her new puppy Charlie as well as family and friends.

Mary Ann Franken, M.D.,FACOG Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology 
Dr. Franken attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. After receiving her degree, she completed her residency at Texas Health Sciences Center in Amarillo. Dr. Franken started practicing in Carrollton in September of 1999. After taking a few years off for her family, Dr. Franken returned to medicine practicing gynecology only. She now practices on a part time basis seeing patients one day a week here at Contemporary Women's Care as well as two days a week at Girls to Women Health and Wellness in Dallas where she provides adolescent gynecology care. 

She is Board Certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr Franken is passionate about women's health issues and places great value on patient education. "I want my patients to feel comfortable with the health care I provide. I want to listen to my patients and then discuss and explain their health issues, assuring their questions are answered.
Ebony Midcalf, Nurse Practitioner
Ebony Midcalf is a nurse practitioner who specializes in Women's Health. Ebony joined Contemporary Women’s Care in November 2016. She received her nursing and nurse practitioner education at University of South Alabama. Prior to her nursing education, she received a bachelor’s of science in microbiology pre-med from Mississippi State University followed by a master’s of science in public health from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans.

Ebony has a passion for adolescent health and has been working to educate and prevent pregnancy and STDs in teens for over 10 years.

Ebony relocated to Texas in 2013 and has made DFW her new home. In her spare time she is active with community organizations, volunteering, and enjoys spending time with friends, her dog, and traveling.
